consideration that influences the local buyer is that it is easier to get renewals for American cars because of the large number out here; furthermore, the proximity of Manila, where
large American stocks are maintained, makes it possible to obtain within a week any spare part not available locally.

A matter on which sonsiderable stress laid by
Members of my Committee acquainted with local motoring conditio is that the low gearing of American cars, with only three speeds forward, suits the constant gradients encountered in this Colony: British cars - naturally enough, having regard to motoring conditions at home appear to be geared high, to
secure the best results ever long straight stretches of easy
roads.
